2008 H. Aldous Dixon Award Recipients

The Weber State University Alumni Association cordially invites you to attend the 2008 H. Aldous Dixon Awards Luncheon honoring John H. Knight, Executive Director of Student Life, and Marie L. Kotter, Professor and Chair of Health Sciences. These awards recognize their distinguished service as members of the WSU faculty and staff, their efforts to meet the needs of students and their career achievements. Politics Institute to Host 'Power Politics 101'

Weber State University's Institute for Politics, Decency and Ethical Conduct will host "Power Politics 101" on Tuesday, March 11, at 6 p.m. in the Social Science Building Room 119. The event will open with presentations by WSU political science faculty members Frank Guliuzza and Leah Murray discussing "Grassroots Politics: The Powerful Responsibilities of Delegates." Guliuzza, a former chair for the Weber County Republican Party, and Murray, a former chair for the Weber County Democratic Party, will discuss the role delegates play in the election of county and state public officials. Ethics Bowl Team Places Fifth in Nation

A competition held Feb. 22, featured the top 32 Ethics Bowl teams in the nation. WSU qualified for the national competition by winning the Wasatch Front Regional Ethics Bowl last November. This marks the second year in a row, and third time in five years, that an Ethics Bowl team from WSU has finished among the top eight schools in the nation. Click here to read more.


President's Honor Roll Recognizes Community Service at WSU

Launched in 2006, the Community Service Honor Roll is the highest federal recognition a school can achieve for its commitment to service learning and civic engagement. “This honor speaks volumes about our faculty and students’ commitment to service learning and community engagement,” said Ann Millner, president of Weber State University. MBA Alumni Reach Out to Local Youth

The MBA Alumni Association donated commercial-grade appliances to Youth Impact for use in its kitchen. Youth Impact is an organization that provides an after-school safe haven for 150 at-risk youth in Ogden. The association also donated 20 new violins to Ogden School District music programs, including the strings program at Dee Elementary School and the mariachi band and theater programs at Ogden High School. Professor Jeffrey Eaton is the 2008 Fellow

Weber State University geosciences professor Jeffrey Eaton has been named the 2008 John S. Hinckley Fellow. Faculty members who teach "Interpersonal and Small Group Communication" are the winners of the 2008 Exemplary Collaboration Award. Click here for details.
